The recent and ongoing pandemic has taken a toll on people’s lives and has caused an unexpected change in our way of living. As with everyone else, the City College of Calamba had to cope with this change that has affected the entire world.
This past year has been challenging, but the college continues to serve its students by providing accessible education in every way that they can. Professors conduct online classes and consultations, modules are provided for, online webinars are held, and online educational resources are made available to the students. Since this setting is foreign and everyone is still adapting, adjustments are continually being made to cater to the needs and concerns of the students.
The college prioritizes the health of its teaching and non-teaching staff as well. It has been a routine for every employee to record their temperature before entering and after leaving the school premises. The college nurse is also always available to check up on students and employees who happen to be under the weather. Regular disinfection of offices is also done to ensure that employees feel safe in their workspace.
Due to the recent increase in COVID cases in the City of Calamba and the implementation of stricter community quarantine, both teaching and non-teaching staff had to work from home. Knowing that some may have already been struggling with anxiety, fatigue, and frustration, the admin had arranged for activities during this period to keep the morale high among the employees. Online flag ceremonies, Zumba, and online prayer meetings are held every Monday, while group sharing is conducted every Friday. All employees are encouraged to attend these activities to keep the social connection alive despite not being physically together.
Seeing that the situation is barely getting better, the City College of Calamba is continually making efforts to adjust to this new normal. Although every day is a challenge for everyone, the college upholds its purpose to provide quality education to its students and strives to find comfort in coping with change.
